Art As Resistance

In times of great chaos it's easy to give in to a feeling of despair. Like the machines that generate sadness and depression, leaving us with a sense of exhaustion in futility, or irresistible.

This is where Art comes in. The function of Art at its best is to speak truth power. It's a sort of socially acceptable court gesture.

Sometimes it's questioning government. Sometimes Art questions, social norms. In this case, art is a form of resistance against that depression. It is a fight against that exhaustion and futility. It is a reminder of how good life can be.

That's my hope for Concerto Americana. When you come, you'll be reminded that there is beauty in the world. That there are moments of joy. And this is one of them.

Concerto Americana is a benefit concert, raising money for my next movie Some Call it Luck.
